About
Rooted in Carmel. Built with intention.
Oak Grove is a hospice agency based in Carmel. Small by design, founder-led, and rooted in one idea: the last chapter should feel like yours.
Our story
Oak Grove Pathways began with a question most families ask too late: what does good care look like from here? Our founders have asked it as clinicians at the bedside and as family members at the kitchen table. The answer they kept arriving at was the same: a small team that knows your name, a nurse who actually answers at 2 a.m., and time spent on the person rather than on the paperwork.
So we built the agency we wished had existed: based in Carmel, serving our own neighbors across Hamilton, Boone, Hancock, Madison, and Marion counties, and independent, not a franchise, not a division of a hospital system, not owned by a fund somewhere else.
Why the oak, and why the path
An oak grove is a place of shade and shelter that took a long time to grow. The path in our mark is not a straight line. It curves, because this journey does too. Our work is to walk it with you, at your pace, so that no one in your family walks it alone.
What we believe
Comfort is medical care
Managing pain and breathlessness well is skilled, urgent, and worthy work.
Continuity is kindness
The same nurse, the same aide, the same chaplain. Trust is built by showing up again.
The family is the patient too
Caregivers are taught, relieved, and supported, and stayed with for thirteen months after.
Honesty, gently delivered
We tell you what we see, in plain words, with room for hope alongside the facts.
Your pace, your choice
Legacy keepsakes and remembrance are offered to every family and shaped around the day you are having. You choose what to take up, and what to set aside.
Everyone
Care without regard to race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, religion, or ability to pay.
Our founding team
Kerstyn Kemp
Founder & CEO · Administrator
Kerstyn leads Oak Grove Pathways and serves as its Administrator, responsible for the agency's clinical standards, operations, and the promise that a nurse answers at any hour.
End-of-life and comfort-focused care has been Kerstyn's specialty for the past decade, and it is work she holds near and dear to her heart. Over those years she has sat with hundreds of families at kitchen tables and bedsides, and she has come to believe this is what she was put on this earth to do: to make sure that people facing the hardest chapter of their lives are met with skill, honesty, and tenderness. Oak Grove is the agency she always wished she could offer them.
Kerstyn grew up on the north side of Indianapolis and lives in Carmel with her husband and their four children. This is her community, and the families Oak Grove serves are her neighbors.
